MyUPGRADE service (service class upgrade)

  • What is MyUPGRADE?

    MyUPGRADE allows Economy Class passengers with booked and redeemed tickets to make an offer to Air Astana to upgrade their tickets to Business Class.  

  • Who can use MyUPGRADE service?

    Passengers must have confirmed and issued Air Astana economy class tickets. The ticket number must begin with 465. Certain ticket types are not eligible for the program, including:
    - Nomad Club Award and Prize tickets
    - Tickets that have already been upgraded using Nomad Club points
    - Award Winners
    - Airline Personnel

  • Who gets the e-mail before the flight?

    Passengers who book tickets online at www.airastana.com can receive an e-mail before departure. The e-mail will be sent to the e-mail address you provided when you booked your ticket online.  E-mails are sent to all individuals, so if a Booking was made for more than one passenger at a time, the owner of the e-mail address would receive multiple e-mails for each passenger in the group.  Pre-departure e-mails are sent only to passengers who have Bookings for suitable flights and dates and if sufficient seats are available.

  • Can MyUPGRADE service be used on all flights?

    No, not all flights operated by Air Astana are part of the MyUPGRADE program. However, the flights chosen to participate in the program will change from time to time, depending on expected demand.  Use the promotional page on www.airastana.com to check if the flight you booked on the date you booked is participating in the program.

  • If I book multiple flights as part of one Booking, will all flights participate in the MyUPGRADE program?

    No, not all flights operated by Air Astana are part of the MyUPGRADE program. However, the flights chosen to participate in the program will change from time to time, depending on expected demand.  Use the promotional page on www.airastana.com to check if the flight you booked on the date you booked is participating in the program.

  • Can I use MyUPGRADE on codeshare flights operated by Air Astana's partners?

    No, this program is only valid for flights operated by Air Astana.

  • Can I choose any amount to make an offer for an upgrade?

    Yes, the system has an initial minimum and maximum bid amount for each flight segment. It will not accept an offer below and above the set maximum.

  • What does "Offer Capability" mean on the offer page?

    This indicator shows how firm your offer is and the likelihood that your request will be accepted. The higher your offer, the more likely your offer will be accepted. Just because you make an offer with MyUpgrade does not guarantee that you will successfully upgrade your ticket.

  • Can I offer different amounts for a class upgrade on each leg of my trip?

    Yes, you can make different offers for each participating segment of your trip.

  • After I make an offer, can I change it up or down?

    Yes, you can change the amount as long as the change is made at least 7 hours before departure and your bid has yet to be accepted. Follow the link you received in the original email before your flight, or log in through the promotional page on www.airastana.com to change your offer.

  • Can I cancel my offer?

    Yes, you can cancel your offer at least 7 hours before departure, and your bid has yet to be accepted. Offers can be canceled through a link received in an email sent before departure or through the promotional page on www.airastana.com. 

  • I canceled my original offer, but now I want to make a new one. How to do it?

    After canceling the original offer, you can make a new offer using the links in the initial email sent before departure or through the promotional page on www.airastana.com.

  • How do I know if my proposal was successful or not?

    After you make an offer, you will receive an email from Air Astana before your flight telling you whether or not your bid was successful.  If successful, your credit card will be charged, and you will receive a new e-ticket with a flight in a higher class.  If you are not selected, your credit card will not be charged, and you will fly on your existing ticket.

  • How can I pay?

    You must provide your credit card information when you make your offer online. Your card will only be charged the amount you specified in the offer once you have received a confirmation email from Air Astana.  If you are not selected, your credit card will not be charged.

  • How do I do that if I make an offer and would like to change the credit card I use?

    You must cancel your current offer before the deadline (for example, at least 7 hours before departure). You will receive an email confirming the cancellation of your offer. You can only make a new offer with your preferred credit card information. If your offer is successfully accepted, but the upgrade has not been made due to a lack of funds on the card or other issues with your credit card transfer, you will receive an email with a link to provide your new credit card information.

  • Can I re-offer if I receive notification that my offer was unsuccessful?

    No, if your offer was not successful, you will not be able to make a second offer for that flight and date.  To increase your chances of an upgrade, make your initial offer as high as possible.

  • Can I choose a seat if the bid is confirmed?

    Yes, you can choose your preferred location during the online registration process on the website or by emailing myupgrade@airastana.com to request your location. In cases of flight type change or operational change of the flight schedule, the availability of the selected seat is not guaranteed.

  • What the fare rules will apply to my upgrade ticket?

    A ticket upgraded to business class will be subject to the same fare rules applied to the initially purchased economy class ticket. This means that the regulations on date changes, cancellation penalties, and validity remain the same as for the initially purchased ticket.

  • If my ticket is successfully upgraded, what happens if I wish to cancel it?

    The penalty for cancelling your originally purchased ticket will be applied to the purchase ticket cost.  The money paid for the upgrade is non-refundable.

  • What advantages do I get when I travel in business class?

    Business Class passengers can enjoy a host of additional privileges, including the following:- Enhanced seat comfort:
    - wider seats and greater seat spacing;
    - reclining seat-beds (1) and reclining seat-beds (2) - maximum comfort at the touch of a button - individual entertainment system (3);
    - first-class cuisine and drinks for business-class passengers
    - access to business class lounges on international flights;
    - increased free baggage allowance of up to 30 kg
    - priority boarding and deplaning;
    - priority on the baggage claim.


    1. Horizontal reclining seats are available on Boeing 767-300ER aircraft.       

    2. The service is available for flights longer than three hours.

  • I'm flying with my family. Can children and infants participate in this program?

    Children (2 to 11 years old) and infants (under 2 years old) can participate in the program on the same basis as adults. Infants with no allocated seats are accepted for transportation free of charge.

     

  • Can I upgrade to sleeping economy class with MyUPGRADE?

    On certain flights, you can bid extra for sleeping economy class. Your bid for a bedroom economy class will only be considered if your bid for a business class is not successful.
