What is MyEmptySeat?

Is MyEmptySeat guaranteed?
We will make every effort to fulfil your offer; however, MyEmptySeat cannot be guaranteed, as seats may be required for operational, safety or any other purposes, even after boarding.

What is included in the MyEmptySeat service?
This service allows you to keep neighbouring passenger seats unoccupied. All other services are provided according to the fare of the originally purchased ticket. Lounge access, additional meals, amenity kits, carry-on baggage, checked baggage, and similar services are not included.

Who is eligible for the MyEmptySeat service?
Passengers must have confirmed and issued Air Astana economy class tickets. The ticket number must begin with 465. Certain ticket types are not eligible for the program, including:
- Nomad Club Award and Prize tickets
- Award Winners
- Airline Personnel

How can I pay?
You must provide your credit card information when you make your offer. Your card will only be charged with the amount you specified in the offer once you have received a confirmation email from Air Astana. If you are not selected, your credit card will not be charged.

What happens to my paid MyEmptySeat in case of an aircraft change?
In the event of an aircraft change, we will make every effort to seat you while preserving the blocked MyEmptySeat seats. If this is not possible, you will receive a refund email, and the amount will be automatically returned to your card.

If my offer was accepted but the flight was rescheduled or cancelled, will my blocked seats be transferred to the next flight?
No. In this case, an automatic refund will be issued. If you wish to obtain the service on the new flight, you will need to submit a new offer as usual.

What if my credit card was charged but MyEmptySeat was not provided?
If we are unable to fulfil your offer, the charged amount will be automatically refunded to the same card.
If you do not receive a refund email within two hours after departure, you may contact the airline to request a refund. -
Can blocked seats be used for baggage?
No. Blocked seats may not be used to place carry-on baggage, musical instruments, pet carriers, infants, or any other items.

How many seats can I block?
This depends on the aircraft configuration and the number of passengers in the booking. For example, on an A321LR with one passenger in the booking, you may block up to two adjacent seats; with two passengers, only one adjacent seat. Exact availability is shown during the MyEmptySeat booking process.

Who will receive the pre-departure email?
Passengers who book tickets online via www.airastana.com may receive a pre-departure email sent to the email address provided during booking. If more than one passenger is included in the booking, the email address owner will receive separate emails for each passenger. Pre-departure emails are sent only to passengers booked on eligible flights and dates, subject to seat availability.

Can MyEmptySeat be used on all flights?
No. Not all flights operated by Air Astana participate in the MyEmptySeat program. For example, the service is not available on domestic and charter flights.

If I book multiple flights under one booking, will all flights be eligible for MyEmptySeat?
Each flight in your booking may participate individually or together. You must select the flights on which you wish to block seats. Some flights may be unavailable depending on demand and other airline rules.

Can I use MyEmptySeat on codeshare flights operated by Air Astana partners?
No. This program applies only to flights operated by Air Astana.

How much does MyEmptySeat cost?
Prices for MyEmptySeat vary by flight. To check pricing, if the service is available for your upcoming flight, please follow the link in the invitation email or enter your booking reference and last name.

Can I cancel my offer?
Yes. Offers can be cancelled if cancellation is made before check-in closes and the offer has not yet been accepted. Offers can be cancelled via the link in the pre-departure email or through the website.

How will I know whether my offer was successful?
After submitting an offer, you will receive an email from Air Astana before departure informing you whether your offer was successful.
If successful, your credit card will be charged. If not successful, no funds will be charged. -
If I submitted an offer and want to change the credit card used, how can I do this?
You must cancel your current offer before the offer submission deadline (check-in closure). You will receive an email confirming the cancellation. Only after that can you submit a new offer using a different credit card.
If your offer is accepted but payment fails due to insufficient funds or other card issues, you will receive an email with a link to enter new card details. -
If I receive a notification that my offer was unsuccessful, can I submit another offer?
No. If your offer was unsuccessful, you cannot submit another offer for the same flight and date.

What if I placed offers for both MyUPGRADE and MyEmptySeat?
If you placed offers for both services, acceptance of one offer will automatically result in the other offer being declined.

Can I pay for MyEmptySeat using Nomad Club points?
No. Payment using Nomad Club points is not available for this service.
